EMS LIVE-IN PROGRAM

In striving to provide the highest quality and
most efficient emergency medical service to our
community, the Pleasant Gap Fire Company has
developed a Live-In Program. The primary goal
of the Live-In Program is to supplement our
volunteers and paid staff.

Eligibility
 
Participation is open to persons who meet the following eligibility requirements:
• 18 years of age or older
• Valid driver’s license
• Current PA-EMT
• Current CPR/AED
• EVOC
• Haz-Mat Operations Level
• Clean criminal background
• Must be accepted for membership to PGFC
Students: must be a full time student; OR must be a part time student that holds a full time or part time job.
Non-students: must hold a full time job.
• Must have personal mode of transportation

Live-In Requirements

• Required to be available for Ambulance calls a minimum of two (2) 8-hour and two (2) 12-hour night shifts per week.
• Required to give one (1) 12 hour weekend
shift a month to respond on ambulance calls.
• Required to attend the regular monthly
meeting.
• Exemptions to items above may be made for
education, work, religious or military
obligations. Student Live-Ins on official
school breaks are exempt during that period.
• Must respond on ambulance calls as needed
while at the station.
• Each Live-In will be responsible for assigned
daily, weekly and monthly duties.
• Must maintain the minimum eligibility
requirements to remain in the program.
• Each Live-In must maintain their own mailing
address (i.e. PO Box). PGFC will not be responsible for Live-Ins’ mail.
• Must maintain a personal vehicle. PGFC
vehicles are not for personal use.
• Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA.
• May reside at the fire station for four years,
provided that the Live-In has continually met
the requirements set forth. After four years,
the Live-In must reapply to the program.
