12/24/06 Motor Vehicle Accident with Fire and Entrapment, E. College Ave |
At approximately 4:30 AM, Company 8, Ambulance 8 and
Medic 24 were dispatched to East College Avenue in the vicinity of Eby
Paving for a vehicle accident with entrapment and fire. Prior to the
fire company's arrival, the patient was extricated from the vehicle and
moved to safety by two truck drivers who witnessed the accident.
Upon arrival, Engine/Rescue 814's crew went to work on fire
suppression. Rescue 818's crew arrived and assisted with patient care.
Engine/Rescue 814, Rescue 818, Tanker 819, Ambulances
850 and 852, Medics 2447 and 2448 were on scene for approximately one
and a half hours.
It should be noted that without the action of the two
truck drivers, the outcome for the patient would have been
siginificantly different. We're honored to have these two men as fellow
citizens in our community.

12/21/06 Motor Vehicle Accident: South Main Street, Pleasant Gap |
At approximately 1:10 AM,
Company 8 was dispatched to South Main Street in Pleasant Gap for a
one-car motor vehicle accident, and operated on scene for approximately
one hour and fifteen minutes.
Units on Scene: Engine-Rescue 814 and Pennsylvania State Police

Mutual Aid: Restek Corporation |
At
approximately 1:00 AM,
Bellefonte Companies 1 and 2 were dispatched to Restek Corporation for
a fire in one of the corporation's ovens. Rescue 818 was
dispatched at approximately 1:05 AM to provide assistance with the
operations.
Fire companies from Bellefonte, Pleasant Gap, and the Penn State HazMat
Team, along with EMS from Bellefonte EMS, operated at the scene for
approximately 3 hours.
Units on Scene:
Engines 111, 212; Truck 217; Engine-Rescue 114; Rescue 818; Hazmat

Mutual Aid: SCI Rockview Barn Fire |
At approximately 5:30 PM the Alpha Fire Co. and
Bellefonte Fire
Department were dispatched to the 1800 block of Benner Pike for a barn
fire. Engine 810 and Tanker 819 were dispatched to assist in
the operations. The
barn was located on State Correctional Institute at Rockview property.
Fire companies from Bellefonte, Pleasant Gap, Milesburg, and
Alpha operated at the scene for approximately 3 hours.

10/21/2006 Mutual Aid: Structure Fire

At approximately 1630
Hours, 818 and
819 were dispatched to assist Walker Township (company 16) with a
structure fire on Deitrich Road. 1670 Arrived on scene to report an
attached garage and trailer fully involved. Crews were on scene for
approximately 3 hours

|
|
818 went to sam's club
today for the
annaul safety fair. Pleasant Gap crews showed the community some of the
tools used in rescue operations.

10/21/2006 Mutual Aid-- Penn State
Structure Fire
|
|
At approximately 0430
hours Engine 810
was dispatched to assist Company 5 with a second alarm structure fire
in the Osmond Lab on the University Park Campus of Penn State
University. Units were on scene for approximately 2 hours

9/7/2006 MVA: Harrison Road and College
Avenue
|
|
At approximately 2130
hours the
Pleasant Gap volunteers were dispatched to a Motor vehicle accident
with injuries
800 arrived on scene to find all patients out of the vehicles with two
vehicles on the roadway. Units were on the scene for 1/2 hour.

8/6/2006 Mutual Aid: Bellefonte Aircraft
Accident
|

At approximately 1130
hours, the
Pleasant Gap Volunteers were called to assist Companies 1 and 2 on a
call for an aircraft crash with fire. Fortunately, all patients were
self-extricated prior to fire department dispatch. Due on the call was
Rescue 818, which provided air cylinder refill and assisted with
applying foam to the airframe. All units were released at approximately
1200 hours.

07/08/2006 Mutual Aid: Milesburg Fire
|
|
At approximately 221,5 a
fire broke
out in a Milesburg trailer. Soon after the initial call, Chief 900
requested Engine Rescue 814 for a RIT crew. When 814 arrived on scene,
the fire was already extinguished; therefore, Pleasant Gap was used for
overhall.

07/08/2006 MVA -- Bellefonte
|
|
At approximately 16:45
Hours just
after Company 1 went out of sercive for their annual carnival,
Companies 2 and 8 were alerted for an accident with injuries on the
1800 block of Zion Road. Rescue 818 responded from the parade line up
to the scene to find two vehicles involved: a vehicle on its side and
one in the parking lot of a business. The rescue was assigned to the
vehicle in the parking lot which contained two patients. EMS had the
rescue crew remove the rear door of the car for better access to the
patients. Units were on scene for approximately 30 minutes.
Responding units: 818, 212.

07/04/2006 July 4th Cave Rescue
|
|
At approximately 1200
hours Rescue 818
was called to assist Companies 4 & 7 with a cave rescue. A
large
patient had fallen 15 feet while caving. Crews were on scene for
approximately 3 hours.

06/26/2006 Hazardous Conditions times 2
|
|
The Pleasant Gap
Volunteers Responded
to two calls today for hazardous conditions. The first was called out
at approximately 730 Hours, for wires down. The Second Call came in at
approximately 1915 hours for fuel leaking from a vehicle following a
minor accident. 800 and 814 arrived on scene to find a vehicle had
collided with a structure, breaking a concrete and rock pillar
supporting the roof. No injuries were reported, and Company 8 went in
service after applying oil dry to the very minimal leak.

06/24/2006 2 MVAs
|
|
At approximately 2300
Hours, 818 was
dispatched to West College Avenue for a reported MVA at the rail road
tracks at SCI Rockview. The Accident involved a single vehicle and a
bear. Injuries were minimal, however, the patient was transported to
Mt. Nittany for evaluation.
The Second MVA was dispatched at approximately 330 Hours on Saturday
Morning. The Accident involved a semi-truck and a small car. The
Pleasant Gap volunteers successfully removed the roof of the vehicle to
extricate the patient. The Patient was transported to Mt. Nittany
Medical center for evaluation. Apparatus on the Box: 818, 1612, and 852

06/23/2006 Severe Thunderstorm Brings
Multiple Calls

At approx 2000 hrs a
severe
thunderstorm went through Centre County giving Pleasant Gap volunteers
5 calls within an hour. The evening started out with the Engine and
Tanker being dispatched for reports of a house on fire in Centre Hall.
Just prior to 810 responding on the 408 box, Centre County
Communications alerted Co 8 along with multiple other units for a
building fire at Sunset West Restaurant. Engine 810, Engine Rescue 814
and Ambulance 852 responded to the building fire at Sunset West. Units
arrived to find a power outage at the building with a slight haze of
smoke inside. Engine Rescue 814 remained on scene to investigate while
Engine 810 cleared and responded to an automatic fire alarm at the
Oaks. While at the fire alarm Co 8 was alerted for a smoke
investigation at the intersection of Harrison Rd and Main St. Engine
413 and Rescue Squad 818 handled that call. With all Co 8 units tied
up, units from Walker Twp were alerted for wires arching on the 700 blk
of E. College Ave. Engine 810 cleared the Oaks alarm and responded
along with Engine 1612, units found nothing on the call. Engine Rescue
814 was clearing Sunset West at the same time and had found that 2 HVAC
units in the basement had burnt up. All units were available by 2100
hrs.

05/13/2006 Public Service: Jeremy Royer's
Prom
|
|
Firefighter Jeremy Royer
asked Chief
Gary Royer if he could use 814 for his limo for the prom. Gary agreed,
and the happy couple was escorted to the Bellefonte High School Sr.
prom at Celebration Hall in College Township by Ambulance Captain Matt
Royer and 2nd Assistant Chief Terry Royer. The ride lasted for a
half-hour.
